WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - June 5, 2015 - PRLog -- West Palm Beach – Print It Plus recently announced it has successfully removed and replaced its commercial grade cutting equipment from its service line with the new BAUM Cut 31.5E Cutter. Although this type of removal and replacement of the machines in a commercial print shop happens with little to no fanfare, this particular upgrade took place surrounded by an interesting story for a back drop.

The move by Print It Plus was actually precipitated by the unexpected announcement by the manufacturer of the older machine (Challenge Machinery) to have it (The 305 Champion Cutter) removed from service immediately. Apparently springs in the directional control valve on several units in service had malfunctioned, causing the knife bar to move unexpectedly and without warning. Although Challenge Machinery stated that they were unsure of the exact cause of the spring’s failure to work correctly, they felt that issuing a statement to all 305 Champion Cutter machine users to immediate cease and desist using them was their best course of action.

Unfortunately for commercial printers like Print It Plus, this type of unexpected announcement puts them in a precarious position. Replacing a cutting machine is a very expensive and potentially time-consuming proposition. Normally the time given to remove commercial-grade machines like this from service can be a year.  But despite the challenges and expense of going forward with the replacement, Print It Plus did not hesitate to make the right decision.

As co-owner David Leland said, “As soon as I read the press release and spoke with my rep at Challenge Machinery, I knew what we had to do. Kimberly (wife and co-owner) and I did not hesitate. We got on the phone with our equipment supplier and placed an order for a top-of-the-line cutting machine that day.”

He continued, “on the one hand, it was an unexpected expense that we knew would take some time to overcome. But the safety of our employees always comes first, no matter the expense.”
