Rebates for Electric Vehicles:

Residents and businesses of the Central Valley or the San Joaquin Valley receive incentives to drive an electric vehicle and install electric vehicle charging stations that the rest of the California and the rest of the nation do not enjoy.

All residents of the San Joaquin Valley can receive special incentives and rebates to drive an Electric Vehicle (EV) or Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and the California Air Resource Board recently announced the new Plus Up! rebate program for low and middle income families of the Central Valley.

Those who are considered by the program to be Low Income qualify for a hybrid that’s rated higher than 35 mpg, or $9,500 toward a plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle. Moderate Income households qualify for $5,000 toward those hybrids, or $7,500 toward a plug-in hybrid or EV, and those who are considered Above Moderate Income can get $5,500 toward a plug-in hybrid or EV.

This also applies not just to new vehicles but to used vehicles less than eight years old—which could make some plug-in vehicles and electric cars very affordable.

In addition to Plus Up! rebate program, residents can also receive various tax incentives from the Federal government (up to $7500) and the State of California (up to $2500) and an additional incentive from the SJVAPCD (up to $3000).

Rebates for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations:

The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (SJVAPCD) is now accepting (as of June 2nd, 2015) applications for the Charge UP! Electric Vehicle Charger program. Eligible applicants are public agencies and private entities (including non-profit organizations) that are based or located within the SJVAPCD boundaries. The SJVAPCD includes the entire counties of San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Tulare and Kings and part of Kern County. The portion of Kern County in the SJVAPCD straddles the Sierra Nevada and Tehachapi mountains. The District encompasses cities such as Bakersfield, Tulare, Visalia, Fresno, Merced, Modesto, Manteca, Stockton, Patterson and Sacramento.

Businesses can receive up to $6000.00 for Level 2 Dual Port Electric Vehicle Charging Stations and $5000.00 for a Single Port Stations.
