After camp, each camper is sent home with an individualized therapy plan and a medal. “Every year we see children improve their skills exponentially through our customized curriculum created by special education, occupational, physical and speech therapists,” CAMP SCHEDULES Effingham County Camp Buddy: Rincon Elementary School June 8 to June 12 For children ages three and over: Monday through Friday— 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Chatham County Camp Buddy: Marshpoint Elementary School July 13, 15, 17, 20, 22 and 24 For children ages 3-5 and 10-13: 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. For children ages 6-9: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. “Camp Buddy really is making a difference in the lives of children in our area. The program is sponsored by the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society and is made possible through the generosity of the community, friends and family of LDSS and events like the Buddy Walk and Night of Champions,” said Molly Marchese, Effingham Camp Buddy coordinator. Camp Buddy costs $30 per child for the entire two week period for either Effingham and Chatham. This cost includes therapy sessions, entertainment, a camp t-shirt and snacks. According to Hussey, the Camp is always looking for teen volunteers, 15 years or older, to work with the children.
