KENT, Ohio - June 3, 2015 - PRLog -- College of Business Administration’s Assistant Professor of Marketing Colin Campbell, Ph.D. was selected to participate in the Advertising Educational Foundation’s 2015 Visiting Professor Program (VPP) June 1 through June 12 in New York City.

After a two-day orientation, Campbell will be partaking in a fellowship at McCann Erickson’s New York City office.

McCann Erickson, part of McCann Worldgroup, is a global advertising agency with offices in 120 countries. McCann Erickson has produced some of the most iconic, innovative advertising campaigns of the 21st century, including Mucinex in the movie theater, Microsoft’s Mirror-Mirror and a variety of Coca-Cola campaigns.

During his fellowship, Campbell will be placed with an active account group where he will be exposed to the various agency functions (account management, account planning, creative, media, etc.), through meetings, focus groups and shoots.

As part of the VPP requirements, Campbell will give a lunchtime talk to McCann Erickson’s personnel on a topic related to advertising.

“By providing an in-depth look at cutting-edge social media practice in one of the world's largest agencies, VPP will help me bring insight and understanding back to the classroom,” Campbell said. “With first-hand experience of the challenges and opportunities facing today's social media marketers, I will be able to create a relevant and realistic learning environment for our students. This will help them to not only succeed in finding employment, but more importantly equip them to excel in their careers.”

Advertising Educational Foundation’s VPP offers professors of advertising, communications, marketing and liberal arts a fellowship position at advertising agencies and media companies. Professors with little or no on-the-job advertising experience are eligible for the opportunity. The two-week summer fellowship provides a forum for professors and industry members to develop mutually beneficial relationships to share research. It enhances professors’ understanding of advertising and provides materials to better inform their teaching, while offering host companies the opportunity to develop closer ties to academia.
