PODS® of Lexington Helps Kentucky Blood Center Kick Off Annual Blood Drive

June 2, 2015 - PRLog -- PODS of Lexington (http://podslexington.com/) will join together with Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) to kick off its summer promotion, ‘Give Here. Live Here. Win a Kentucky Camry Built Here.’ on Friday, June 5, at the Beaumont Blood Center.

Each year, the partnership helps to raise awareness about the need for life-saving blood donations; just one donation can save up to three lives. Donors who register between June 1- Aug. 31 will be automatically eligible to win a Toyota Camry.

On Friday, donors can enjoy a cookout from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. featuring food provided by Texas Roadhouse.  In addition, participants will receive a t-shirt and a free cholesterol test while enjoying some down-home fun with a live remote from My Mix 94.5, who will be onsite from noon-2 p.m. near the PODS container.

“We’re excited once again to be partnering with Kentucky Blood Center to help increase awareness on the importance of blood donations and how they can save lives,” said Ken Kocon, general manager of PODS of Lexington. “Every year we set out to surpass our goals and each year we’ve succeeded. This year should be no different in exceeding our expectations.”

Kentucky Blood Center relies on volunteer blood donors to meet area patients’ needs. KBC, the largest Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed blood bank headquartered in the Commonwealth, is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties.

Win a Kentucky Camry Built Here.’ promotion, Kentuckians will be encouraged to donate and help us keep saving lives each year,” said Martha Osborne, KBC’s Executive Director of Marketing and Recruitment. “We’re grateful for PODS of Lexington’s continued support and their involvement with the event.”

Over the last year, KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components, relying on volunteer blood donors to meet patients’ needs in the areas it serves.
