SALEM, Ore. - June 2, 2015 - PRLog -- The 2016 Acura RLX Sports Hybrid is an eagerly anticipated new arrival to the sedan market. A step up from the standard Acura RLX, the sports hybrid combines cutting-edge technology and refinement in a way no other vehicle does. An enhanced engine, updated interior and exterior details, added safety features and competitive pricing are just a few of the reasons why the Acura sedan is set to be one of the top-selling luxury sports sedans released this year.

The Acura RLX Sports Hybrid is equipped with the same 3.5-liter V6 engine as the standard 2016 RLX, however, three electric motors have been added. Two of the motors are used in place of a traditional driveshaft to power the rear wheels. The third motor increases engine torque for the front wheels and powers a lithium-ion battery pack. The Acura RLX offers an impressive 377 horsepower and 341 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is notably high at 28/32 mpg (city/highway). Upgraded from the standard model, the sports hybrid also includes a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The interior and exterior of the new Acura sedan have been updated. Sleek and sophisticated, the sports hybrid is sure to be noticed wherever it goes. Primarily, updated LED headlights and taillights have been added for better visibility. The overall width of the RLX has also been increased by a few inches to create a roomier interior. Only the highest quality materials have been used to design the interior of the Acura sedan. A power-operated steering-wheel adjustment, Bluetooth streaming and tri-zone climate control are just a few of the luxuries offered by the Acura RLX. Additionally, all RLX hybrid models include standard all-wheel drive, 19-inch wheels and a head-up display that projects information onto a screen near the driver.

All 2016 Acura RLX’s also come equipped with AcuraWatch. AcuraWatch is Acura’s new patented suite of safety and driver-assistive tools. Some of the tools include a cross traffic monitor, forward collision alert, adaptive cruise control, a collision mitigating braking system, a multi-view rear camera, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation and continuous blind-spot monitoring. The added safety features combined with crash-test results has earned the Acura sedan several prominent accolades. The 2016 Acura RLX earned top scores in frontal crash, side crash and rollover tests. These tests were conducted by the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). Additionally, the RLX earned top scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) in all crash-tests. The RLX was also given an advanced rating in front crash prevention when equipped with AcuraWatch.

The sports hybrid version of the RLX starts at around $61,000 and can increase into the upper-$60,000 range, depending on what packaged extras are selected. The competitive pricing and cutting-edge features makes the RLX sports hybrid an exciting new addition to the luxury sedan market.
