Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary Seeks Volunteers

WARRENTON, Va. - June 1, 2015 - PRLog -- The Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary is looking for volunteers to lend a hand at various locations around the health system. Volunteers are the face of the hospital, interacting with patients and visitors, answering questions and showing the way. Anyone who would like to become a volunteer may contact Lynn Lauritzen, director of Volunteer Services, at 540-316-2910. Some of the most pressing needs are listed below.

Front desk Escort - This is a wonderful spot for those who like to be where the action is. If you like the more social and interactive side of hospital volunteering, this is a good fit for you. Shifts are 7 to 11 a.m., 9a.m. to 1 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Gift Shop – Here’s an opportunity for those who want to help give retail therapy to visitors and staff. There is a shift available in this area for every other Thursday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for June, July and August. There are permanent openings on Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Friday, 5 to 7:30 p.m.  The Auxiliary is also looking to fill an additional 8 to 10 a.m. shift daily. This would be a new shift that is not offered currently. Many patients and their families come in for early morning appointments and are looking for a place to spend time while they wait. The Auxiliary would like to be able to open earlier in order to meet the needs of guests, if volunteers would be willing to support it.

Home Care Shop – The Home Care Shop caters to those needing home care medical supplies and cancer care items, like wigs and special clothing. Available shifts are Mondays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesdays, 2 to 6 p.m.; and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2 to 6 p.m. (The Home Care Shop and Gift Shop are run by the Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary. All proceeds from these shops go to the Auxiliary and the various hospital and community projects they support.)

Surgical Waiting – Volunteers are needed to cover the surgical waiting room desk from 7 a.m. until at least 4 p.m., or when the last surgery takes place. Four- to five-hour shifts are available.

Fauquier Health Rehabilitation & Nursing Center – Volunteers are needed to help with Bingo and to pass out popcorn during special events.

The Fauquier Hospital Auxiliary is also looking to fill a volunteer treasurer position. This person would maintain the budget and bookkeeping for both the retail shops -- the Gift Shop and the Home Care Shop. The treasurer would also work with the shop retail manager and board treasurer to maintain the overall budget and financial bookkeeping for the Auxiliary’s most prominent fundraising resources.
