Pair of wonderful Victorian acid-etched decanters with sterling silver mounts. Made by Charles Thomas Fox and George Fox in London in 1853.

Each: tapering cylindrical neck with helmet mouth, scroll handle, baluster body, knop, and flat circular foot. Ovoid stopper with faceted neck and frosted plug. Acid-etched foliage and scrolls with classical profiles in scrolled oval frames to body and stopper. Cut ornament to foot underside. Neck, shoulder, and mouth have silver mount with strapwork, classical profiles in scrolled oval frames, and pierced scrolls, foliage, and flowers. Silver handle with flower cap. Sumptuous Victorian mid-century design. Hallmarked. Excellent condition with rich patina.
