Munich Airport opens third recreation area in Terminal 2

Europe's first five-star Airport further enhances passenger comfort

MUNICH - May 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Leaning back in a lounge chair, losing yourself in a novel or catching up with your

mail – just a few of the pleasant options enjoyed by visitors to the recreation areas

in Munich Airport's Terminal 2. With the two existing ones becoming more popular

all the time, a third one has now been added. Plants and subdued lighting

create an atmosphere conducive to rest and relaxation. Monitors are positioned

to make it easy to keep an eye on flight status.

With the new recreation area now open close to gates G 43/44, Schengen passengers

have access to two of these exclusive and spacious waiting areas with 28

comfortable places to sit or stretch out and 16 business stations equipped with

their own power outlets for laptops, phones or tablets. They also have access to

an exclusive reading area, supplied with 600 books courtesy of the Weltbild

bookshops in which they are welcome to browse as they wait for their flights.

Apart from the two recreation areas on the Schengen level, a similar facility has

been available on Departure Level H (non-Schengen) for the past year and a half.

All three can be used free of charge. The special waiting areas were developed by

T2BG – the Terminal 2 operating company, held jointly by Munich Airport (60%)

and Lufthansa (40%) – in cooperation with the furniture maker Vitra and the Munich

design offices "studio PS" and "ZTR".

At the official opening of the third recreation area, managing directors of T2BG,

Christian Wallner and Marc Stadtlander were delighted to present yet another

improvement in the service quality and passenger comfort in Terminal 2. Wallner:

"In March we became the first European airport to be designated a "Five-star Airport"

by the London-based Skytrax aviation research institute. Facilities like these

recreation areas that enhance the comfort of waiting passengers are a major factor

behind the outstanding reputation enjoyed by our airport around the world."

Marc Stadtlander added: "Our passengers not only enjoy fast and smooth transfers

to connecting flights here in Munich. Thanks to the attractive surroundings,

they also find that their waiting time just flies by."
