Dirty Christians is also available as an e-book exclusively through Amazon’s Kindle store (http://www.amazon.com/Dirty-Christians-Serve-Messy-World-ebook/dp/B00WLKKIFO/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1430262783&sr=1-1&keywords=dirty+christians+daniel+brown ).

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and the BP Oil Spill, a church ventured beyond its walls to show the love of Christ to those with shattered lives in the devastated community around them. As a result, both the church and community were radically transformed. Dirty Christians is the story of that church and community.

“I believe it is vital for the church to get back to the concept of serving with a loving heart,” says Brown. “I wanted to encourage the church to have the mind of Christ, act like Christ, and serve like Jesus did (and would), in accordance with Philippians 2. This book is for every believer looking to be a Christlike servant.”

Jesus did not share the gospel with the poor, profane, and rebellious where they lived just so that we would share it only with the prim and proper, in churches. He did not suffer the agony of the cross so that we would live safely within the church walls, untouched by the hurting world around us. Jesus got His hands dirty interacting with a messy world to reach those He loves.

Dirty Christians is a call for the people of Christ to...

• Leave the safety of the church to venture out into the messiness of the real world of people with deep hurts, serious issues, and torn apart lives, and love them as He did

• Chase after the life of service and love—the standard to which He has called them

• Discover in the messiness of serving God why being Christlike cannot be an option, but must be a necessity

• Experience the power of God as never before as they do what Jesus did and love as He loved

Dirty Christians is for those up for the challenge of living Jesus out to this world to see what God can do through them as they live out a messy faith.

Of Dirty Christians, author and evangelist Scott Hinkle writes: “Daniel, his church, and their community have weathered much adversity since the great storm ten years ago. You will be greatly enriched as you read their story and get to know these selfless servants who gave their best for God, asking nothing in return. Your heart will be stirred and you will be moved to a greater place of serving and reaching out to your own community.”

Response to Dirty Christians has been overwhelmingly positive:

“There are mega churches that haven’t done a fraction of what this group of Christians have in their community. Heart, attitude and determination define this group of believers who show what Christianity should be about. Dan Brown wrote a history of the church he is pastor of, and the end result is a real inspiration.” (Amazon review, Dave, April 25, 2015)

“This book is a must read for all who are interested in developing an effective outreach ministry to meet the needs of people in your part of the world. You will not be disappointed as you read through the pages about a little church with a huge impact on a small community. Encouragement to do all that God has called you to be will arise through the experiences faced by a faithful man of God who dares to be a dirty Christian in a messy world.” (Amazon review, Sherri C.)

“Absolutely loved this book! What a reminder of what the Church is truly called to be! So refreshing! (Amazon review, Staci B.)

“Finished the book last night & really enjoyed it. It gives the Pastor’s testimony of personal growth through trials & encourages Christians to get their hands dirty by ministering to those outside the 4 walls of the church building. I found it encouraging, motivating & somewhat humbling all at the same time. Great work!” (Amazon review, Tony Shoemaker)

“This book has the marks of the Holy Spirit all over it... God has given Pastor Dan a clear vision for the ministry of service, a great read had to read it slowly to truly absorb the message God has for us as believers. Now I'm going to read it again and mark it up.”  (Facebook, Dennis S.)

A multi-platform social media push and other promotions are planned to get the word out about Dirty Christians.

Brown offers this advice for authors: “Get a good editor and get help, especially if it is your first time publishing. I used ChristianWriterHelp.com to get that help, and would do it again. They also helped me establish myself as a publisher (Dirty Christians, LLC) through Ingram Spark.”

A native of southeastern Michigan, Daniel Brown lives in South Alabama where he and his wife, Debbie, pastor Anchor Assembly of God in Bayou La Batre.
