Bahamas Announce 2015 Top 50 Male Basketball Players
MIAMI - May 27, 2015 - PRLog -- www.mybgsf.orgwww.twitter.com/bahamastop50https://www.facebook.com/top50camp The committee for the Bahamas TOP 50 Camp have carefully selected their list of Bahamian basketball players who will participating in the 2015 Top 50 camp and showcase. The list of the chosen players was released on Friday in Nassau, Bahamas and is available to coaches at https://bahamastop50.eventbrite.com/?discount=BahamasBasketballTOP50. The Bahamas population is just over 350,000 and they are passionate about the game of basketball with over 50% of male youth participating in an organized basketball program by the age of 10 and many moving on to play collegiate and professional sports.

Bahamian basketball players excelled in the NCAA tournament this year and one of the favorite national storylines is the friendship of Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield and Michigan’s Tum Tum Nairn. Nairn's Michigan State teammates earned him eternal bragging rights while Hield, his close friend, would never hear the end of the games result.

The Bahamas is also home to retired NBA players, Rick Fox and the Thompson brother’s; Mychal Thomas, a retired NBA player and Andy Thompson, VP of Development for NBA Entertainment. Attorney and former University of Houston Phi Slamma Jamma co-captain, Lynden Rose is also Bahamian. Rose’s son currently plays for the University of Houston and Thompson’s son, Klay Thompson, is currently in the NBA playoffs with the Golden State Warriors.

Each of the players participating this summer will have an opportunity to earn college scholarships. The organization partnered with the US Embassy Nassau and the Bahamas Basketball Federation last year for the inaugural TOP 50 Camp that resulted in 11 scholarships to attend US colleges.
