Gregory Garrett Receives ACHCA's Eli Pick Leadership Award

May 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Greenport, NY -- The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) has honored Gregory J. Garrett, Executive Vice President and Administrator of Health Services at Peconic Landing, as a 2015 recipient of its Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award. The award recognizes administrators whose teams have achieved “dimensions of organizational quality that few others have been able to reach,” according to the college. The recognition is named in memory of a visionary college member, Eli Pick. Garrett is one of 257 administrators to be recognized nationally.

The award is based on a candidate’s volunteerism and leadership record, as well as three years of data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency tasked with setting and enforcing standards for nursing homes. Under Garrett’s direction, The Shores at Peconic Landing has maintained a five-star quality rating – the highest possible rating – for the past 20 consecutive quarters. It is a task that is becoming more challenging as the federal agency is working to strengthen its nursing home evaluation program.

CMS evaluates data on nearly 16,000 nursing homes across the country each year, gauging health and safety standards, nurse staffing and care times, as well as the quality of care patients receive during a stay at each organization.
