PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - May 25, 2015 - PRLog -- For the fitness instructor who wants to own and run his or her own studio, Pilates offers a very effective and potentially lucrative foundation of exercises upon which to build a career. With this year’s Pilates Round Table (PRT) Summit just around the corner (Friday, June 5th through Sunday, June 7th here in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida at the DoubleTree Hotel), now is an ideal time to offer aspiring fitness club owners some good advice about factors they need to consider before starting up or taking over a Pilates-based fitness business.

One of the leading authorities on the fitness business in general, and owning and running a Pilates studio in particular is Pilates Master Trainer Bernie Nelson. Bernie has held at least part ownership in a Pilates studio for over 12 years, and before that was a successful fitness trainer. He is the Owner of Body & Core Pilates, and also the Founder and operator of the PRT Summit.

According to Bernie, there are three core concepts you must embrace as the base to build your successful Pilates business upon:

1.       1. Education

Keep building upon your own base of education, actively. Even if you think you are the greatest fitness instructor, or the greatest Pilates instructor you must continually seek out more fitness-related modalities to learn about and master. “Only because I was open to learning new things did I come across Pilates in the first place. I was your typical Midwestern farm boy who was taught that virtually all fitness goals, particularly those for men, could be achieved with weights, some stretching, and maybe a treadmill or cross trainer,” said Bernie.

Then, he attended a seminar where they were teaching Pilates – and Bernie began to realize there was a better, more balanced way to achieve fitness for the average person. That same attitude led Bernie to learn about and then incorporate Redcord and CoreAlign Pilates regimens into his weekly class schedule.

2.       2. Add Classes

This leads us into his second core concept. Once you open your studio, you can not stay stagnant, offering the same classes in several years that you are offering today. Peoples’ tastes change, and exercise modalities are constantly being upgraded and/or modernized. Both Redcord and CoreAlign are perfect examples of that constant evolution. They are both modernized modalities that have evolved from the original Pilates system of exercises. You will need to add Redcord, CoreAlign, and/or other exercise regimens as you grow your business.

3.  Add Redcord as one of your services

The one modernized exercise regimen that has stuck out recently with Bernie, and the one he highly recommends that you add to your studio’s exercise schedule, is Redcord. According to Redcord USA, “Redcord takes suspension exercises to the next level. Developed by top physical therapists, Redcord comprises the most comprehensive collection of suspension exercise equipment, educational training programs, and neuromuscular based treatment methods available in the industry.” Taken from www.redcord.us
