LOS ANGELES - May 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Alphabound, the company that created the iconic LetterJAM! experience, is on board to support Upward African Woman (UAW).   A crucial element of UAW’s mission is to provide a nurturing learning environment for disadvantaged women and their children.  The organization is ecstatic about Alphabound’s participation in their educational program.  “We are a company committed to cultivating literacy,“ said Alphabound’s CEO and LetterJAM! inventor, Greg Yu.  When he heard about the Upward African Woman program, he immediately donated LetterJAM! FunPack Tubes to high school students on the African continent.

Today youth are immersed in a media-rich, ubiquitous, “always connected” world. Yet the educational system has not effectively harnessed technology to connect with genuine learning.  LetterJAM!, introduces the world to a unique learning experience that tightly integrates socialization and competition, fully enhanced with customized Internet tools.  LetterJAM! offers measureable outcomes and personally motivated learning opportunities during competitive group play.  Students eagerly engage in positive mental strategies, develop critical thinking and negotiating skills, and boost their own mental and intellectual development.

Alphabound recently joined the celebration of Upward African Woman’s first full year of philanthropy to raise emergency financial assistance for one of their students who was severely burned just prior to receiving her Educational Certificate.

Upward African Woman was founded by jewelry designer and philanthropist Monalisa Okojie.  As a businesswoman traveling back and forth to Africa, she confronted the extreme contrast of poverty and wealth over there.  “Access to education is extremely rare for many women in Africa,” observed Monalisa, “so we are ready and willing to open the right doors for them.”

Monalisa’s colleagues recognized the power of their voice and connections and began to work tirelessly to develop a program to get women off the streets and into the classroom.  “Many of us have benefited from philanthropy in our lives, whether through scholarships and grants to attend college or community organizations that provided free extracurricular programs. Without question, philanthropy helped us succeed.  We must extend that same opportunity to others.”

“We are honored to receive such a wonderful and ongoing gift from Alphabound.  LetterJAM! will provide many hours of an enriching and enjoyable time for our students.”
