ITE Group plc. & fairtrade Messe GmbH combine expertise to launch building exhibition in Africa’s largest economy

Exhibition specialists ITE Group plc. and fairtrade Messe GmbH & Co. KG have joined forces to launch a building & construction exhibition in Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria.

AfricaBuild Lagos will take place from 16 to 18 February 2016, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos. The event will bring together Nigeria’s key construction professionals and present products from international manufacturers and suppliers from around the world.

Nigeria is currently the largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $521.8 billion and is expected to triple in size by 2030 to $1.6 trillion, making it one of the world's top 20 economies.

The construction industry is Nigeria’s second-largest employer, with around five per cent of the populace working in the sector. Over the last five years the industry has averaged an annual growth rate of 9.5 per cent. The exhibition is significantly located in the heart of the country’s commercial capital, Lagos, where major infrastructure development is expected to take place over the next few years.

Darryl Pawsey, Regional Industry Director, ITE Build & Interiors Division notes, ‘Nigeria’s construction market remains relatively unsaturated by international suppliers, and despite the push for the full spectrum of infrastructure, commercial, industrial and residential structures there is a lack of local materials and equipment to meet demand, providing significant opportunities for international suppliers looking to corner the market.’

Drawing on ITE’s expertise in the building and interior industry and fairtrade’s knowledge of the African exhibition market, both parties believe that AfricaBuild Lagos will provide new opportunities for international building and construction professionals.

Martin März, Founder, fairtrade Messe GmbH & Co comments, ‘Only last month, we held a very successful Agrofood & Plastprintpack show in Lagos, with 91 exhibitors from 26 countries and 1, 349 trade visitors. We recognise huge potential in Nigeria for building & construction professionals and are delighted to have found in ITE Group, a partner with specialist building industry knowledge. We are confident that fairtrade’s expertise in the African exhibition market, combined with ITE’s know-how in the building and construction sector will produce a successful industry event.’
