Outdoor Renovations Continue for Wounded Warrior and his Family on “Designing Spaces® of Hope - Military Makeover” on May 22nd on Lifetime®

Host R. Lee Ermey, actor and former U.S. Marine Drill Instructor, keeps four-part home makeover in line with help from Macy’s, Nissan North America, Military Benefit Association, Amarr Garage, and Robert Bosch Tool

(POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – PR LOG – May 21, 2015) The heavy lifting is in full swing on “Designing Spaces of Hope - Military Makeover” presented by Nissan. The four-part series chronicles the room-by-room renovations of the Florida house of injured veteran and Purple Heart recipient 1st Lt. Robert Keefe, Jr., his wife Bianca and their three children. Don’t miss this second episode airing on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 7:00 a.m. (ET/PT) on Lifetime® TV.

First Lt. Robert M. Keefe was deployed in Afghanistan as a Platoon Commander. His Humvee hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) right under his seat, causing severe spine injuries, traumatic brain injury, PTSD, and memory loss which rendered him unable to continue military service.

The Keefe’s outdoor renovations are made possible thanks to the generous donations of valued partners who teamed up with Designing Spaces:

- Yard Makeover - with Military Benefit Association (MBA)

Starting with dirt and the bare minimum offoliage, MBA stepped in to redesign both the front and backyards. MBA arranged for Longhorn Landscaping & Sod, a local landscaper, to overhaul the front gardens and backyard with new plants, decorative pieces and retaining walls.  The backyard received a new patio, gas grill, fire pit and exotic plants that completely changed the look and utility of the space.  MBA also brought in American Drilling Services, another local contractor, to add a whole-home water softener system and work on the irrigation system.  MBA, a not-for profit organization, offers affordable and reliable term life insurance coverage that is exclusively available to military men and women ages 18 to 70 who are Active Duty, Reserves, National Guard, Veterans, and their dependents.

“All of us at Military Benefit Association are proud and honored to have participated in the Military Makeover for the Keefe family,” said President Roy Gibson. For more information, please visit: http://www.militarybenefit.org.

- Outdoor Oasis – with Macy’s Furniture Gallery

The Keefe family’s empty backyard is a blank slate, the perfect opportunity to create a beautiful patio area that the whole family can enjoy, with Macy’s help. Known for selling fashionable clothing, Macy’s also provides everything you need for your home: housewares, kitchen electrics, linens, and furnishings, and patio furnishings. Robert and Bianca head to Macy’s Furniture Gallery to talk to Ron Trivone who shows them the wide selection of Outdoor Patio Furniture that will add comfortable seating and ambiance.Viewers will also hear about how Macy’s is honoring America’s veterans with the “Got Your Six” program that assist veterans and help them to re-enter the workforce.  For more information, please go to: www.macys.com.

- Measure Twice, Cut Once - with Robert Bosch Tool Corp.

All kinds of tools have been used for the renovations, and thanks to Robert Bosch Tool Corp. reliable tools have been provided for the Designing Spaces Crew. One special tool, the BOSCH GLM 15 laser measure, has been indispensable for the many projects during the Keefe home makeover. Brian Vranek from Bosch Tools shows new ways to measure with this one-button digital tape measure that can fit into a pocket, and eliminates the need for a traditional tape measure that often requires two people to use and is known to snap back. The BOSCH GLM 15 laser measures distance up to 50 feet at very high precision, can be used by contractors, electricians, DIY’ers to real estate agents and appraisers – anyone who needs to measure. - Creating Curb Appeal – with Amarr Garage Doors

A new garage door can increase a home’s curb appeal, value and energy efficiency. As part of the Military Makeover, the Keefe family is getting a brand new garage door, courtesy of Amarr Garage Doors.  Greg Ferris, from Entrematic points out the features of the Oak Summit OS3000 door selected for the Keefe family home with host Art Edmonds. The triple-layer, insulated steel carriage house garage door with recessed panels and decorative hardware was chosen for several reasons including safety….this door was built to reduce serious finger and hand injuries. And the eco-friendly AMARR steel garage door is made of up to 90 percent recycled materials! For more information, please go to: www.amarr.com
