NEW BERN, N.C. - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Tried By Fire, Inc. and Ray of Hope Ministries of New Bern, NC will be hosting their second themed fundraising event this year to benefit post-incarcerated women in Eastern North Carolina. The event will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 10am-12pm at Courts Plus in New Bern, NC. Participants are in for a real treat with two hours of Fitness, Fellowship and Fun to include inspiration by guest speaker, Wileasheara Barrera and Zumba® led by instructor, Theresa "Firecracker" D. Williams. The fundraising goal for this event is to raise $2,000 with proceeds to go toward 501(c) (3) non-profit Tried By Fire, Inc. in their continual efforts to provide needed services and opening a transitional home in 2016.

Gospel recording artist, Bonita Burney Simmons, and founder of Tried By Fire, Inc. says she is so excited about this event, "For our next fundraising efforts for Operation Outreach 2015, we wanted to do something different. What better way to raise funds while getting a good Zumba® workout! Some of us may not do Zumba®, but we love to move and we love being in the loop of what's going on in the world around us. What's going on is that many women are returning to a life of crime and are not able to survive in society post-incarceration. This has been going on for years, but this year we plan to make a difference in the lives of these women and to help reduce these recidivism rates."

In 2000, Bonita began her journey of counseling and giving free concerts to inmates and those residing in mental hospitals. She soon realized that the recidivism rates of those who were repeat offenders was so great and that many of the inmates did not have a successful plan post-incarceration. Because of her obedience to God, it was then that Bonita began working on the goal to make an even greater impact by opening "My Sister's House." Tried By Fire Inc.'s vision is to educate, mentor, provide spiritual counseling and life skill resources in a temporary, residential setting for those women post-incarceration. To help accomplish this, Bonita is asking the community to either come out to support this fundraiser or to make a donation.

Registration is required for this event by contacting at Violet (252) 635-0711 or Bonita (252) 637-2339. For those who are unable to attend but would like to contribute to this worthy cause, tax deductible donations can be submitted securely online at http://www.gofundme.com/triedbyfireinc or via mail to P.O. Box 12691, New Bern, NC 28562
