Celebrate National Land Trust Day on June 6th with Triangle Land Conservancy

RALEIGH, N.C. - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Join Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC) and Great Outdoor Provision Company (GOPC) in celebrating the positive impacts of land conservation with National Land Trust Day on Saturday, June 6th.

National Land Trust Day is held each year in conjunction with National Trails Day on the first Saturday in June. Take a short 2-mile hike with TLC staff at their Swift Creek Bluffs Nature Preserve in Wake County and then join Great Outdoor Provision Company for a party at their Cameron Village location in Raleigh. Both events are free and open to the public.

“We are excited to partner once again with Great Outdoor Provision Company in celebration of Land Trust Day,” said Sandy Sweitzer, Executive Director of TLC. “Their commitment to protecting the open spaces where their customers hike, paddle, run, and bike isn’t good for just their business – it’s also good for other businesses who depend on the area’s outdoor recreation opportunities and high quality of life to attract the best employees.”

Since 1992, GOPC has supported local land trusts by donating a portion of sales on National Land Trust Day from all of their stores. They have now raised over $225,000 for land trusts in North Carolina. This year, GOPC is giving 10% of their sales on June 6th to land trusts. Additionally, anyone purchasing two pairs of SmartWool socks designed by modernist artist Charley Harper on that day will receive a matching tumbler as a gift.

TLC’s hike at Swift Creek Bluffs begins on Saturday, June 6th at 1pm and online registration can be found at https://www.triangleland.org/news-and-events/event/nation.... The free after party will be held at Great Outdoor Provision Company’s Cameron Village store from 4-7pm.

Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC) is a membership-supported, nonprofit striving to create a healthier and more vibrant Triangle region by safeguarding clean water, protecting natural habitats, supporting local farms and food, and connecting people with nature through land protection and stewardship, catalyzing community action, and collaboration. TLC’s protected sites in Wake, Durham, Orange, Chatham, Johnston, and Lee counties encompass more than 16,000 acres, including five nature preserves open year-round to visitors, free of charge.
