MOORESVILLE, N.C. - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Conducted by Maestro Eduardo Cedeño, members of the Lake Norman Orchestra some of whom traveled on a concert tour to Europe in 2013, will travel to Washington D.C. to perform as part of this historic event.   With them, will be Garrett MacIntyre, vocal soloist and third-grade student of Community School of Davidson who accompanied by the LKNO, will be singing the Star Spangled Banner.   This event is a commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the End of World War II and the 150th Anniversary of the End of the American Civil War.

Overlooking the National Mall, the group will perform in front of the three stainless steel triangular spires that form the United States Air Force Memorial, a sculpture that reaches upward to 270 feet, representing three core values of the Air Force - integrity first, service before self, and excellence.  They also reflect a bomb burst maneuver, and stand for three out of four Air Force airplanes performing a Missing Man flight formation.   For this event, Cedeño will conduct the orchestra’s repertoire consisting of a variety of music including a movement of Dvorak’s New World Symphony and Meyer’s An American Rhapsody.

While in Washington D.C., members of the orchestra will tour several national memorials and sites, including a visit to the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian and the Arlington National Cemetery.  The LKNO will visit the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during the U.S. Military Wreath Laying Ceremony. Thereafter, the orchestra will attend the National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol featuring a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra which will be televised on PBS  live from 8:00 to 9:30 p.m. ET, from the West Lawn Of The United States Capitol
