Atlanta Greek Picnic Organizes 3,000 Person Die-In and Moment of Silence for Justice, June 5-6

ATLANTA - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- ATLANTA, GA (May 13, 2015) —On Friday, June 5, Morehouse Forbes Arena will fall silent as more than 5,000 Atlanta Greek Picnic (AGP) attendees unite for justice and stand in solidarity against police brutality. The following Saturday, June 6, more picnic attendees will join the peaceful-protest efforts by participating in a 3,000 person die-in at Morris Brown University, 643 M.L.K. Jr Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30314.

These displays are a part of the Atlanta Greek Picnic Cares initiative, which supports protestors nationwide. Participants at each observance will hold signs reading: “Black Lives Matter,” “AGP (Atlanta Greek Picnic) Cares” and “Be The Change,” says Tiwa Works, President & CEO of Atlanta Greek Picnic.

Works understands the importance of assembling with a purpose and showing support to the protestors nationwide, including those is Ferguson, Maryland, New York and Atlanta. “As leaders in our respective communities, we have to play our part as responsible and concerned citizens by using our platform to promote awareness and social change,” he says.

Works vows that the call for change will not stop with June’s peaceful protests. “The Divine 9 will continue to educate, empower and bring awareness to such issues with each and every opportunity we get,” he says.

These two observations are only a portion of the week-long Atlanta Greek Picnic happenings, which are hosted to  serve the Atlanta community and elevate the attendees professionally and communally.

AGP’s Main Events:

Thursday, June 4, —NBTalks interactive business panel titled “The brand called ‘YOU’.” Guest panelists include Tiwa Works, Nicole Garner, Ashley Clevelandand DeShaun Johnson.
Friday, June 5, 7:00 p.m.—$10,000 Greek Step Show and Atlanta Greek Picnic Moment of Silence:  Nine rhythmically talented step teams will compete to win $10,000 to use toward their individual chapter advancement and funding of service projects in their respective community. The moment of silence will take place in the middle of the show. The step show will conclude with a performance from recording artist Rick Ross.
Saturday, June 6, 2:00 p.m.—11th Annual Atlanta Greek Picnic and 3,000 Person Die-In for justice at Morris Brown. Atlanta Greek Picnic will also partner with AID Atlanta and other organizations to provide free services.

While this weekend will cater to the members of The Divine Nine, the public is welcome to attend every event, excluding the official picnic.
