KÖLN, Germany - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- The books from the German-based initiative Taste Twelve allow food lovers to explore unique and carefully selected restaurants throughout various German cities. Each book holds a gift certificate for a main course at each of the restaurants that are highlighted in the guide. This makes the Taste Twelve restaurant guide an absolute must-have for every bon vivant.

With the possibility to choose from twelve different restaurants per city, spreading from Berlin to Dusseldorf, there is more than enough to experience. There are currently seven different books available that each highlights one major German city and all of their culinary secrets. The Taste Twelve books serves perfectly as a gift for connoisseurs or curious people who want to discover the city in the perspective of the local food experts.

Communicating a concept

The added value of the coupons that are incorporated in the book, is not immediately apparent from the cover of the book. Therefore Taste Twelvewanted to convey the unique message of their restaurant guides and simultaneously highlight the included gift coupons. That is why it was of great importance to display the books whilst explaining the complete concept.

During busy times the message can get lost in the immensity of the department store; especially during Christmas when this project was rolled out. In order to display both the message and the book in an informative and innovative way it was necessary to upgrade the promotion of this book with striking digital signage.

Combining design elements with storytelling

With the AOPEN In-Store Showcase, Taste Twelve was able to show and explain the concept of the book to the customers at the department store. The transparent display allows one to use video, images and other animated graphics to be displayed in front of an actual product. This exciting digital form of promotion gives a stage to the books as well as to the central message, bringing the concept to live in a crowded department store.

The In-Store Showcase was supported by the AOPEN Digital Engine DE35-HD. This powerful and cost-effective media player ensured a stable platform for this form of product presentation.

With the right content to support the promotion of Taste Twelve the In-Store Showcase really was an eye-catcher in the large department store. With the functional custom-built stand that is easy to install on various locations within the store the transparent display is a flexible solution.

Turning heads at the entrance

The final result was an aesthetically pleasing and innovative digital solution that perfectly displays the essence of Taste Twelve. During the busy Christmas period, the In-Store Showcase really made an impact. There was a massive increase in brand awareness for Taste Twelve. The transparent display was installed near the entrance and caused significant congestions at the exit as shoppers simply stopped in front of the In-Store Showcase to watch the video and check the Taste Twelve books.

Jochen Schmelzer the brain behind Taste Twelve says: “We were extremely pleased with our display in one of Köln’s biggest bookstores. The attention and comments on the Taste Twelve books in the In-Store Showcase received were very positive. During the three months we were displaying the books we’ve got amazing feedback from shoppers and employees alike.”
