Moseñor Romero Beatification Live-Streamed For Hundreds Of Followers At Local Catholic School

LOS ANGELES - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- (Saturday, May 23, 2015) – More than four hundred devotees of Monseñor Oscar Arnulfo Romero – the Archbishop of San Salvador, El Salvador, who was assassinated during the country’s bloodiest civil conflict – will see his beatification by the Roman Catholic Church in El Salvador during a live stream and community event on Saturday, May 23, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Saint Thomas the Apostle Elementary School (2632 W. 15^th Street, Los Angeles, CA).

         The event, co-sponsored by Clínica Monseñor Oscar A. Romero, celebrating the archbishop’s martyrdom, will include an afternoon festivity or “tardeada” from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. including testimonials, a choir and cultural performances. In addition, during the event, Clínica Romero will provide information about children’s health, free dental screenings for chilldren, and application and enrollment assistance for MediCal, ObamaCare, My Health L.A. and more.

         Other event sponsors include: the Consul General of El Salvador, Los Angeles Archdiocese, Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, SALEF and ESNE TV.

         “Today is a joyous day,” said Sandra Rossato, Executive Director for Clinica Romero. “Monseñor Romero. “Monseñor said he would be reborn in the people, and today he has resurrected among them. We are honored to carry on his name and legacy,” she added.

         According to event organizers, the highly-anticipated beatification will be viewed by millions around the world, especially followers like Edgardo Guardado, coordinator of the Monseñor Romero Committee for St. Thomas the Apostle, who said that St. Thomas the Apostle will celebrate with happiness and joy this wonderful day of beatification for Monsignor.

         Clínica serves a predominantly low-income, monolingual Spanish-speaking uninsured Latino population and a significant indigenous population from southern Mexico and Central America in the Pico Union/ Westlake area near downtown Los Angeles. Close to 100% of Clínica’s patients live at or below the Federal Poverty Level.

         In addition to providing health services for unaccompanied minors fleeing from Central America, Clínica has enrolled over 3,000 patients in My Health L.A. – a county program that provides health services to undocumented immigrants living in the area.
