By: Avionica “Avionica's avSYNC data transfer service has been beneficial to our corporate flight division, especially within our safety and maintenance department. It has been a significant factor in avoiding any type of delay and inconvenience to our passengers by having data readily available. And it has saved costly maintenance man hours we used to spend on manually downloading data,” said Bruce Bernard of Jet Aviation Flight Services, an international firm that also provides European service to clients in Geneva, Basel, Moscow Vnukuvo and Vienna. Avionica’s miniQAR MK III and 3G Wireless Module with avSYNC allows aircraft data recorded on the miniQAR to be downloaded automatically to a customer’s site using 3G Wireless transmission over the internet for FOQA. No human intervention is required. The avSYNC software is installed centrally at Avionica and at the customer’s site. Speaking from Geneva, Anthony Rios, vice president of sales for Avionica, said: “It’s unusual for a company to offer both software and hardware services for flight data analysis, and Avionica offers a clean, simple solution all the way through flight data recording and management to newly implemented FOQA initiatives.” Bernard, who is a regional maintenance manager for Jet Aviation in the western United States, added: “Once the software is installed and configured, this is a ‘hands off’ full service that is fully automatic, eliminating any concern of mishandling sensitive and valuable data. Immediate data transfer upon aircraft landing anywhere in the world is the ultimate and most valuable feature for us. Within minutes of landing, data received from the aircraft is stored on our servers. It’s safe and available to be analyzed if needed during a maintenance situation.” Avionica also has a suite of satLINK products using the current Iridium constellation. Avionica’s lightweight and FAA certified satLINK MAX is being recognized as the ideal solution to transmit both voice and data on business jets to and from Europe that must meet the Future Air Navigation System (FANS)-1/A requirement. Avionica’s certified products could satisfy recent recommendations by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) for a Global Aircraft Tracking System by leveraging its four Iridium transceivers to simultaneously provide multiple voice and data services with a single dual-element antenna. Typical applications include two flight deck voice channels, one FOI datalink channel, and one voice and data capable cabin service channel. About Avionica Founded in 1992 and headquartered in Miami, Avionica is the world’s leading data collection and data transmission manufacturer, designing and producing innovative, safety-qualified, affordable solutions that are revolutionizing air transportation. Committed to the highest standards, Avionica has earned 17 Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) from the FAA and multiple certification approvals from Canada, EASA and China and is approved on more than 250 models of aircraft under the FAA’s Approved Model List (AML).
