Glenn McIntosh named vice president for student affairs at Oakland University

ROCHESTER, Mich. - May 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Following a national search, Glenn McIntosh has been appointed vice president for student affairs at Oakland University. Pending formal approval by the Oakland University Board of Trustees, his tenure begins on June 1, 2015.

“Since my arrival, I have witnessed Glenn's outstanding leadership skills and his unwavering commitment to OU,” said Oakland University President George W. Hynd. “I am confident that he will continue to lead the Division of Students Affairs to even greater heights.

McIntosh has served as interim vice president for student affairs and enrollment management since May 2013. Prior to that, he served as assistant vice president and dean of students from 2001-2013 and as founding director of the Academic Advising Resource Center from 1998-2001. In addition, he served as founding director of the Center for Multicultural Initiatives (formerly the Office of Equity) from 1994-2001, establishing the national award-winning Trustee Academic Success Scholarship program.

Before joining Oakland, McIntosh held a number of administrative positions at Wayne State University, Eastern Michigan University and Bowling Green State University.

He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Michigan Chronicle's Man of Excellence Award; the Novell-Levitz Student Retention Excellence Award; the OU Administrative Professional of the Year Award; the Diversity Excellence Award; the Outstanding Professionals of America Award; and the NAACP Community Leadership Award.

A native Detroiter, McIntosh earned his master's degree in Community and Agency Counseling from Wayne State University and his bachelor's degree in Sociology and Business Administration from Central Michigan University. He is a licensed professional counselor.
