KENT, Ohio - May 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Fourteen College of Business Administration students and Pi Sigma Epsilon (PSE) members traveled to Houston, Texas to participate in the 59th Annual Pro-Am Competition and Professional Sales Conference on April 17th and 18th.

Incoming PSE President, Randy Roland, a freshman Marketing and Entrepreneurship major, received the Future Leaders Award and 2014 Kent State College of Business Administration Ph.D. graduate Rebecca Dingus won the Best Sales Teaching Innovation-Method Award.

Annually, the University Sales Center Alliance sponsors the Best Sales Teaching Innovation-Method Award. To enter the competition, sales educators submit a paper outlining their teaching innovation for a special session at the National Conference in Sales Management (NCSM). Each paper accepted competes for the $1,000 award, this year 12 papers were presented.

“I was honored to receive the Best Sales Teaching Innovation-Method Award” said Dingus, a Ph.D. graduate in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

While at the conference the students attended sessions on managing careers, personal branding, transitioning from college to career and personal finance, as well as PSE meetings regarding chapter leadership and recruitment.

The conference also featured a Career Fair with 25 companies seeking interns and employees in professional sales including 3M, Citrix, Sherwin Williams, Mach1 Global, AT&T and Vector Marketing. More than 400 students from 50 universities attended.

“After attending the conference, students return to Kent State with a better grasp of a future career in professional sales. Students learn the importance of personal branding, receive interviewing tips and walked away with valuable contacts through networking events. Most importantly, many have internship opportunities as well,” said Ellen Daniels, PSE advisor. “The conference provided the chance to experience the corporate world through professional speakers, roundtable discussions and workshops; ultimately allowing students to emerge focused on a career in professional sales.”
