Museum of Fine Arts, Houston screens One Nation, written and directed by nine year-old Anthony Hobbs

BALTIMORE - May 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Baltimore actor Anthony Michael Hobbs’ short film One Nation will be screened on May 29, 2015 at 6 p.m. in the Brown Auditorium Theater at the Museum of Fine Art, Houston (1001 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas). The event features 20 short films written, produced and/or directed by filmmakers ages 17 and under. Admission is free.

The three minute film was chosen out of a pool of 350 submissions by Anahita Ghazvinizadeh, a filmmaker and Core Fellow at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The event is presented by Whole Foods Market. Anahita is the winner of the 2013 Best Student Film at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

Anthony’s One Nation was also screened at the 2015 Alhambra Theatre Film Festival in Indiana where he won their Spirit Award, the West Chester Film Festival in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and the Montclair Film Festival in New Jersey where it won Grand Prize.

One Nation is about a boy name Steven and his five friends (Jeffrey, Spice, Hope, Rose, and Brianna); kids who decided that they needed to give back to the members of the Army returning home after fighting for freedom. Zachary Hammond was the film’s production assistant, Jeannine Collins the wardrobe stylist, and comic book author/singer/songwriter Lexee Crystal performs the film’s soundtrack release “I See.”

Anthony Michael Hobbs’ credits include performances in films, such as 2013 Emmy Award nominated PBS special “The American Experience: The Abolitionist” where he played a young Frederick Douglas; starring in DreamWorks documentary “How to Train Your Dragon: Dragons and Dinosaurs” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bekKOmfsWfc); United Way ‘s PSA (http://vimeo.com/54017197);  Norwegian Cruise-Line’s commercial; several PBS Sprout Network mini-segments; the national classroom program called KinderRhyme - which appears in over 2600 school programs, and in a Comcast’s Xfinity segment.
