Local Humanist Minister to give Non-Religious Invocation to Wilmington Council Meeting on May 19th

WILMINGTON, N.C. - May 18, 2015 - PRLog -- At the Wilmington, North Carolina City Council Meeting on May 19th 2015, Han Hills, a local professional Humanist Minister and Celebrant, will be giving a non-religious invocation to begin the meeting.

Most City Council invocations are performed by Ministers professing a belief in a particular faith or religion. As such, they are often given in the form of prayer.

As an open Atheist and Humanist, Han Hills will be breaking with this tradition and performing an invocation which is entirely Secular in nature.

Secular invocations are rapidly becoming both accepted and welcomed across the nation. This reflects a growing trend, especially among younger generations, to seek answers to the important human questions away from supernatural faith traditions. Instead, there has been a huge and accelerating trend to see the world wholly in terms of the rational and natural.

Han Hills has been a practicing professional Humanist Minister and Celebrant in the Carolinas since 2006 and is licensed to perform ceremonies by the Society of Celebrations, a national organization established to train and ordain Celebrants to practice many types of ceremonies, both religious and non-religious, based on Humanist principles. You can learn more of the organization at www.societyofcelebrations.org.
