Come on You Schools - Huntingdon 10K Fun Run encouraging you to get active

HUNTINGDON, U.K. - May 18, 2015 - PRLog -- By encouraging school teams to enter the 3K and 1K runs. This year there is an amazing incentive for schools to take part, as the first 20 young people signing up as part of each schools’ team will be given an activity tracker, the new Buddy Step Counters, donated by local award-winning company Activ8rlives (http://www.activ8rlives.com/), each worth £39.99!

Brampton Village Primary School were last year’s winners, and they have already entered 2 teams for this year. But so far, they are guaranteed to win, as there are no other schools yet entered! Local GP and race organiser, Dr Frankie Lasman says “I am really pleased with our initial sign up but we want more schools to enter. There is funding for all of them to encourage activity in pupils, and to set healthy behaviours for the rest of their life, and we especially want those schools with sports academy status to encourage pupils to enter. The runs are for everyone - pupils, teachers and parents can all give it a go, whatever their level of ability.”

The set of 20 Activ8rlives Buddy Step Counter (http://www.activ8rlives.com/devices/activity-trackers/) accelerometers will be for schools to use with other pupils as well as those initially signing up, so helping to increase momentum for everyone in the schools to move more and as part of curriculum-based activities incorporating measurements and averaging skills. Schools simply need to give individual team members the Hunts 10K website (http://www.hunts10k.org.uk/) details and ask them to enter individually, but use the designated school team name.

A great incentive for the younger racers this year will be first, second and third placed in each age category will receive the Activ8rlives brand new BuddyBand 2, which is a ruggedised waterproof smartwatch accelerometer that the can be used by the winners in future training and races and uploads their activity data via Bluetooth 4.0 to the latest Apple and Android Smartphones.

The Huntingdon 10K, 3K and 1K charity (http://www.hunts10k.org.uk/) runs take place on the morning of Father’s day, 21st June, starting on Alconbury Weald on the old runway, and the event is a great outing for Dad and the rest of the family, as there are not only runs with great medals and prizes from sponsors Cook Italian and Huntingdon Audi, but also fun activities and stalls from local charities and firms, as well as a display of posh Audi cars and some mini morgan racers.

Any ability runner can simply enter and know that their entry fee will directly benefit local charities, or they can choose to get sponsorship for their own chosen charity! In previous years we’ve had walking groups join in as well, from all age groups giving it a go and getting active.
