New Regional Hospice Center Marks Picture That’s Latest Healthcae Facilties Art Consulting Project

STAMFORD, Conn. - May 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Continuing her firm’s expansion into the niche healthcare facilities sector, Valerie A. Cooper announced that Picture That, LLC of Stamford had undertaken the art consulting project for the new Regional Hospice and Home Care Center for Comfort Care and Healing in Danbury.

The state-of-the-art 36,000 square foot facility— Connecticut’s first and only nonprofit, all-private, family focused hospice center— opened January 2015 during a ribbon cutting ceremony attended by more than 200 donors and public officials. More than 1,000 patients, many of them children, are expected to be cared for in the first year of operation.

The award-winning entrepreneur, who launched her corporate art consulting business 13 years ago, said she was proud to have provided comprehensive art consulting and project management services for “the only one- of- its- kind hospice center which has been hailed as representing a new era in end-of-life care to the people of Connecticut.”

The scope of services that Picture That provided, starting last November, included selecting, acquiring framing and installing art for the facility’s 12 private suites, lounges, living rooms and library. Cooper also noted that it was especially refreshing that several works of art were created by local artists or donated by major supporters of the center.

Cynthia E. Roy, President and CEO of Regional Hospice, said that the collaboration between her center and Ms. Cooper ‘s firm was “very productive and a very efficient use of time especially because this was a complicated project. It entailed selecting and placing art on wall panels designed to hide medical equipment.” She added: “As an all-inclusive provider, Ms. Cooper was very responsive in altering the plan as needed and sending new images of art for us to consider in order to yield a beautifully serene solution in the end.”

Ms. Roy noted that Kevin Kelleher, Vice Chair of the capital campaign to build the hospice residence and President and CEO of Cartus, recommended Picture That for the project. Ms. Cooper noted that Mr. Kelleher retained Picture That in 2003 to curate Cultural Art Exhibitions  for Cartus headquarters, a relationship that remains in existence for the company’s network of regional and international offices.

Ms. Cooper said that because the center was designed to look and feel like a comfortable home, and not an institution, and is located on beautiful grounds, the goal was to choose art with serene and calming settings including seascapes, sunsets, flowers, country lanes, sailboats and swans.

She added that the project resonated with her on a personal level because her mother had been receiving hospice care. “From the start, I felt very deeply that this center represented a very worthy cause, that it is truly a model for the nation to follow as hospice and palliative care is one of the fastest growing healthcare markets.”

Healthcare facilities art consulting has emerged as one of Picture That’s primary business sectors over the past five years. “Regional Hospice typifies an ongoing trend of healthcare providers either constructing new facilities or undertaking major renovations. Since 2010, our firm has increasingly met the needs of this growing market.”

Currently, Picture That is undertaking a large-scale art consulting project for Yale New Haven Health System’s 120,000 square foot medical center at 5520 Park Avenue in Trumbull scheduled to open in March 2016. When completed, it will serve as a regional hub of an outpatient campus providing medical oncology, radiology and ambulatory surgery, as well as a full range of support services for patients and their families.

Previously, Picture That completed a large-scale project forSaint Francis Hospital in Hartford for its new 57,753-square foot technology and finance center.

The firm also installed art for Yale New Haven Health System’s extensive network including the New Haven campus, Smilow Cancer Center-Torrington and Bridgeport Hospital’s Ahlbin Rehabilitation and Industrial Medical Centers among others.
