Today, the CCBA continues to serve as a community advocate, having recently partnered with Operation PUSH on the forum, “Know Your Rights:  Surviving Police Encounters in the Age of Eric Garner,” to call attention to the rash of violent encounters between the police and the public over the past several years. “I look forward to working with the CCBA Board, its members and the community to continue to produce relevant programming that reflects the legal realities we face today,” said Coleman.  “These times offer both challenges and opportunities and the CCBA will be ready to face both.”

Historically, the CCBA has engaged in a variety of programs to advance the legal profession and its members and celebrated its centennial in 2014.  Among its most important contributions was the development of an organized system for the fair and impartial evaluations of judicial candidates that led to the joint alliance with other minority bar associations.
