BALTIMORE - May 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Alan Goldberger, a New Jersey attorney and the author of "Sports Officiating:  A Legal Guide," served as a panelist for “Legal Issues Implicating Referees and Officials” at the 41st Annual Sports Lawyers Association (SLA) Conference, held last week in Baltimore, Maryland. Among the topics discussed were “independent contractor” issues, officials’ liability for injuries during games, instant replay, legal implications of social media, and the interaction of referees with governing bodies and other organizations in sport.

The Sports Lawyers Association is a non-profit, international professional organization whose common goal is the understanding, advancement and ethical practice of sports law. There are over 1,000 current members: practicing lawyers, law educators, law students, and other professionals with an interest in law relating to professional and amateur sports.

Goldberger, a partner in the Summit, New Jersey law firm of Brown Moskowitz & Kallen is a frequent speaker to groups of sports officials, coaches, athletic administrators, and attorneys nationwide. Other panelists include attorneys Brandon Leopoldus and Brian Lam.
