Sorrow Crew Documents The Screening Tour

Houston, Texas – Last week, writer and director Millie Loredo debuted her indie horror film Sorrow at River Oaks Theatre in Houston, Texas.

HOUSTON - May 12, 2015 - PRLog -- The following day, cast member Melissa Mars joined Loredo on a screening tour of the film in select theaters in Atlanta, Georgia; Charlotte, North Carolina; and New York, New York.

Loredo and Mars drove all day and night across the eastern United States, and they documented the tour with photos available to view here! They began the Sorrow tour with a sold out screening in Houston, Texas, and the audience was especially curious about the inspiration for the film.

“The Houston Heights serial murderer Dean Corll and his kills inspired some of the scenes in the film,” Loredo said. “The way he held his victims captive is kind of how Dale does it in the movie.”

The Q&A session following the film wasn’t over until midnight, but Loredo and Mars got packed up in their car and drove straight to Atlanta, Georgia that night for the screening at the Plaza Theatre the following day.

Audience members praised the film for its dialogue, especially that of the character Octavia’s. From the Plaza Theatre, Loredo and Mars traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina. Loredo had visited Charlotte in March for the Mad Monster Party scary Convention, and she and Mars returned to screen the film at Carolina Crownpoint Theater.

From there, Loredo and Mars drove up to New York City where they screened Sorrow at the Quad Cinema and then at the Anthology Film Archives. They held the Q&A session in between the two screenings at Bar None.

“Some of the audience members mentioned we had good, strong female characters, so I was really proud of that,” Loredo said. “One of them was actually pretty shocked that a woman had written the script, so I’m glad I can disprove any gender stereotypes by screening my movie across the country.”

Loredo remained in New York to scope out possible locations for her second film, tentatively titled In Dreams. The film follows the story of a young woman who is murdered in Grand Central Terminal and seeks the help of a man named Stanley to find the people who killed her.

Mars returned to her home in Los Angeles, California where she will begin filming several projects in the coming months. She and Loredo had a great time promoting Sorrow and will continue to do so on DVD and Blu-Ray.
