Follow on Google News | New York City Screening of Documentary Film COMPLICIT to feature Q&A with SS St. Louis SurvivorsImmediately following the screening, Robert Krakow, Executive Director of the SS St. Louis Legacy Project Foundation, will lead a panel discussion where guests will hear individual stories of tragedy and triumph from five of the surviving passengers of the SS St. Louis. A Proclamation of Remembrance will be presented by the surviving passengers to the Board of Directors of AFDVI in memory of DVI’s founder Trudi Birger, a Holocaust survivor. The DVI clinic was founded in 1980 and is the only free dental clinic of its kind in Israel. For 35 years, the clinic has provided dental care to thousands of underprivileged children in Jerusalem with the help of volunteer dentists from around the world. "The Trudi Birger Clinic is a place where dentists from over 36 countries and of all religions come to care for the indigent children of Jerusalem regardless of religion, race or ethnicity," says AFDVI President Dr. Michael J. Goldberg. “This award-winning film contains rare archival footage and recounts the voyage of the SS St. Louis which set sail from Germany in 1939 seeking refuge from Nazi persecution but was denied safe haven in Cuba, the United States and Canada. It also honors those who perished in the Holocaust and celebrates the lives of survivors who have made such positive contributions to their adopted countries, as our own Trudi Birger made to her’s.” For more information about this event visit: https://americanfriendsofdvi.org/ End
