By: Cowles & Thompson The nominees for the awards are: Charlie Chen, Chairman of Richardson Chamber of Commerce Raymond Corral, RF Microwave Engineer, Alcatel-Lucent Edith D’Agostino, Owner, Gabbiano Group, LLC Dilshad Dayani, Founder, President and CEO of World Women Global Council Mauricio Dominguez, Assistant Superintendent, Dallas Independent School District Ashok Mago, Owner, Mago & Associates Joe Madu, President, West Africa-America Chamber of Commerce and Industries Azam Mirza and Claudia Mirza, President and CEO of Akorbi Patricia Moore, COO of Sentrum International Corporation Nagla Moussa, President of National Autism Association of North Texas Rajan Rijal, Research Assistant Professor at University of North Texas Andres Ruzo, CEO, Link America Roxana Valenzuela, Owner, Mix Cocina Restaurant Anh Vo, Owner, Cindi’s N.Y. Delicatessen Restaurant and Bakery Of the 14 nominees, two award winners each will be named in the Immigrant Entrepreneur and Immigrant Professional Excellence categories, while one winner each will receive recognition in the Immigrant Advocate and Immigrant Spirit categories. “We meet immigrants when they first decide to make the United States their new home,” said Ann Badmus, immigration law section leader of the firm. “So it’s very rewarding to honor these accomplished individuals with much-deserved recognition. Their stories show the strength and determination that have made America great.” Winners will be announced on Friday, June 12 at the Prestonwood Country Club, 15909 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas. The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available at https://immigrantawards2015.eventbrite.com. The keynote speaker is Myron Rolle, Rhodes Scholar and former NFL athlete. Myron’s parents immigrated from Bahamas and he is only the third Rhodes Scholar to play in the NFL to date. Through a competitive process, the Immigrant Journey Awards identifies outstanding new American high school students in North Texas for the American Dream Scholarship. Three scholarship winners will be announced at the luncheon as well. End
