Sean Finnerty Joins REAN Cloud

We are pleased to announce that Sean Finnerty has joined REAN Cloud as an Executive Director, leading the Health & Life Sciences business, along with driving company-wide Information Security, Compliance, and Quality initiatives to strengthen REAN Cloud’s position in regulated markets.

Prior to joining REAN Cloud, Sean led the Cloud Services group at Merck & Co., Inc. (known as Merck Sharp & Dohme outside the United States and Canada), and is recognized within the industry for introducing disruptive, cutting-edge cloud thinking into the highly regulated Life Sciences computing landscape. Through close partnerships with Information Security, Global Infrastructure, Compliance, and Quality organizations, Sean and his team were able to quickly establish and advance the cloud program, enabling numerous business outcomes and greatly compressing time to value with solutions built on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

On joining REAN Cloud, Sean says, “I am excited to apply my years of ITIL, security, and compliance experience to enable managed clouds for Enterprise Life Sciences customers and other regulated markets.  Cloud computing provides new and powerful ways for researchers to solve human health problems, and it is rewarding to play a role in enabling these new capabilities.”

Over the course of Sean’s 14 year career at Merck, he held positions of increasing responsibility, starting in the Global Infrastructure organization managing Active Directory and the Windows Server platform, then moving on to implement and manage a Global Identity Management and Provisioning system fully validated to comply with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and GxP requirements, before running the Information Security Incident, Threat, and Vulnerability Management team, and finally leading Cloud Services.  Sean’s ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into fully compliant, business-enabling capabilities has served him well throughout his career.

Sean currently maintains his CISSP certification and attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick, NJ.  Sean has served as a member of the Amazon Web Services Customer Advisory Board.

Steve Toback Joins REAN Cloud

We are also pleased to announce that Steve Toback has joined REAN Cloud as a Principal, Cloud Architect.

Prior to joining REAN Cloud, Steve led the Enterprise Cloud Architecture team at Merck. Over the course of his 12 year career, Steve led a number of innovative  solutions, starting in the Enterprise Web Infrastructure organization where he led the development of the web farm automation, auto-scaling, and self-service management platform, which was also shared with the Apache open source community.  After leaving the web infrastructure organization, Steve joined the Information Security Engineering team, where he led the development of services to protect corporate data and intellectual property.

Steve currently maintains his CISSP certification and holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.  Steve has also served as a member of the Amazon Web Services Customer Advisory Board.
