LONDON - May 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Playing in a Pro-Am tournament preceding the Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open at the Heritage Golf Club in Bel Ombre, amateur golfer Reshad Purdassy defied the odds and holed out in only two shots on the challenging par 4 17th hole.

A $1 million villa is being offered by tournament co-sponsor Villas Valriche to the first professional player that makes an eagle on this 423 metre hole. Sadly for Purdassy, the prize can only be won during tournament play on Sunday 10th May.

Nonetheless he is delighted with his achievement: “The 17th hole is not an easy one to negotiate, for you are constantly playing against the wind. Achieving an eagle in these conditions is absolutely fantastic. It was surely the hand of God."

Out of admiration for this remarkable achievement, Villas Valriche will present him with a complimentary stay in one of their award-winning villas at a special prize giving ceremony on Sunday.  “I have seen the villas while playing golf and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to stay there,” says Purdassy. “I thank Villas Valriche for the generous gesture.”

Purdassy has represented Mauritius in tournaments abroad, such as the African Amateur Golf Championship in Johannesburg. He currently plays off a 5 handicap but held a 0 handicap for 10 consecutive years.

“Reshad has proved that this challenge is possible and on Sunday we could well see one of our tournament finalists walk away with one of golf’s largest prizes – a spectacular villa worth $1 million,” comments Villas Valriche Sales Director Timo Geldenhuys.  “As you can imagine, his achievement has generated considerable excitement about history being made here!”

The Afrasia Bank Mauritius Open is the first ever tri-sanctioned golf tournament endorsed by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours. With a field of 136 players from each of the participating tours (plus qualifiers and invitees), the tournament is the most high profile sporting event ever hosted in Mauritius and the €1 million prize fund is the largest ever to be paid out for a golf tournament on the island.

Designed by South African Peter Matkovich, the challenging par 72 golf course has been named as one of the Top 10 golf courses in Africa by CNN. With breath taking views of the Indian Ocean and the mountains behind it features wide undulating fairways, large greens, water obstacles, well placed bunkers and thick African elephant grass.

Winner of Best Golf Development in Africa at the 2013/14 International Property Awards, Villas Valriche is situated in Domaine de Bel Ombre in the Savanne region of Mauritius, the most naturally beautiful part of the island just 40 minutes from the international airport.  The villa only estate is situated on a rolling hillside in a natural amphitheatre on the south coast, widely acknowledged to be the most beautiful region on the island, surrounded by vast unspoiled and protected nature reserves. It is part of the Mauritian Government’s Integrated Resorts Scheme (IRS). The IRS provides automatic residency to freehold property owners and their dependents, which also brings substantial fiscal benefits. To qualify, the investment in a residential property must be over US$500,000.

Freehold homes at Villas Valriche start from $659,000, including an infinity pool and private landscaped garden.
