ISO 14001 Has Reached FDIS Status

After ISO meetings in Tokyo and London in 2015, to discuss comments received on the DIS, a consensus has been reached: the text for FDIS 14001 has been approved.

May 7, 2015 - PRLog -- The FDIS text confirms the emerging changes (new concepts and terminology) proposed for Environmental Management Systems: strategic environmental management, leadership, protecting the environment, environmental performance, lifecycle thinking, communication, and Documentation. The FDIS reveals an increasingly strategic approach in Environmental Management.

The FDIS is a final draft with only editorial changes to come after it. Therefore, the process for a new version of ISO 14001 continues with the standard publication due by September 2015.

More information from ISO is available at ISO/TC 207/SC 1 (Environmental Management Systems) (https://committee.iso.org/tc207sc1).
