We’re Baaaaack! Nerd Nite 313 Returns to Tangent Gallery May 21

DETROIT - May 7, 2015 - PRLog -- (Detroit, MI) Nerd Nite’s back, alright! Nerd Nite 313 returns to Tangent Gallery (715 E. Milwaukee) on May 21st at 7pm for a relaunch event. Nerd Nite 313 is the Detroit branch of the nationwide “edutainment” event where presenters offer 18-20 minute talks on quirky and interesting topics.

After a short hiatus at the end of 2014, Nerd Nite 313 is harder, better, faster, stronger in 2015 with an event titled “Reboot, Renew, Relaunch” featuring speakers with expertise in Prosthetics and Orthotics, disaster planning for digital repositories, and comic books.

For the May 21st presentations, Chris Casteel of Anew Life Prosthetics and Orthotics will be speaking about renewing life after limb loss while Rebecca Frank, a PhD Candidate at the University of Michigan School of Information, will present on developing disaster response and recovery plans. Nick Yribar, Curtis Sullivan, and Marcus Schwimmer of the podcast SuperSkull will also be present to talk about rebooted universes in comic books.

Along with following the usual three speaker presentation model, interactive demonstrations before and between talks will allow attendees get to know one another while engaging with topic relevant activities, including an offering from Green Living Science and Detroit Green Maps.

In addition to all of that excitement, May’s Nerd Nite will bring new and exciting elements to the Nerd Nite 313 repertoire. This event will be an opportunity for Detroit nerds to meet their new co-bosses as well as learn about some of the different directions Nerd Nite 313 will be heading in the remainder of 2015.
