Duluth Makes a Huge Splash through the Arts

DULUTH, Ga. - May 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Duluth continues to lead in pushing the Arts throughout the community and residents have fallen for the City’s creative and artistic flare. Duluth will make a huge splash with not one, but two events that are artistic in nature.
The signature fine arts festival that attracts thousands to Downtown Duluth, Barefoot in the Park, is Mother’s Day weekend. There, residents can browse the Juried Fine Artist Market made up of hand-picked artists with diverse mediums including: glass, metal, jewelry, printmaking, ceramics, watercolor, photography, wood, sculpture, painting, and mixed media. They can also participate in an array of free activities in the Children’s Art Park where artists will teach and assist children with various art projects. Adults can take part in the Adult Learning Village where they can get their hands on the potter’s wheel or just relax and enjoy the entertainment from the Main Festival Stage or Second Stage. Barefoot in the Park is May 9^th & May 10th.

Barefoot in the City, which is an 8-day event, will feature different forms of art throughout the City. The event will kick off on the first day of Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival, May 9th, with the unveiling of the Public Art Master Plan, which is a guiding document created for Duluth’s rich visual and performing arts heritage. It will take place in the Shifting Scapes exhibit located at 3111 Main Street at 2pm.

Throughout the week there will be lots to see and experience such as: colorful tree and light pole wrappings, movable art to Tweet about, opportunities to learn art techniques and more. The global art project seen in 60 countries-“Before I Die”-will be in Duluth. Residents will get the opportunity to join the international phenomenon and express their goals publically. “Barefoot in the City” runs from May 9^th-May 16^th. The culmination of both events is just one way the City of Duluth continues to provide residents with the opportunity to learn, grow and enjoy the arts in an ever-growing community where the ARTS take precedence.
