Mr. Hughes at the Inaugural Women Grow of Bend

BEND, Ore. - May 6, 2015 - PRLog -- This is an event for the launch of the Bend, Oregon chapter of Women Grow, which is an organization that promotes and encourages participation of women entrepreneurs in the newly developing cannabis industry.  The event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Double Tree by Hilton in downtown Bend, Oregon at 300 NW Franklin Street.  Mr. Hughes is a trial lawyer who is known as an animated and entertaining story teller and public speaker.  However, other than court and trials, he rarely makes public appearances.

He is expected to speak about the implementation of Measure 91, Oregon’s cannabis legalization initiative that passed last fall.  Other topics will include recent proposed changes to Oregon’s Medical Marijuana Program, the Angela Brown case in Minnesota, and High Way©, the first book in a series written by Mr. Hughes called, High, Higher and Highest – a Trilogy of Prohibition Parables©.  This promises to be a revealing conversation with Mr. Hughes.  Mr. Hughes is honored to speak at this event and is very outspoken about the need for the cannabis industry to embrace women and minorities.

Communities and families have been destroyed by the ills of the illicit drug trade caused by prohibition.  Women and minorities have consistently been the hardest hit by criminal sanctions and penalties that were the foundation of the “war on drugs” and prohibition.  As we phase out of the prohibition model and into a tax and regulate model, we have to make sure that the same people who were the most negatively impacted by the bad policies of the past are not excluded from the benefits of the new policies of the future.  Women Grow is an exciting organization that is working to cultivate cannabis entrepreneurs and I am excited to speak at the launch of the Bend chapter.” – Michael R.
