Based on epic Gladiator movies and games of the past, I,Gladiator brings exciting and fast-paced gameplay to Linux.

Steel Monkeys is an independent game developer with studios in Minsk (Belarus) and Vancouver (Canada). Founded in 1998 we had been focused on games that deliver fun, stunning visuals and compelling gameplay.Time is running fast. Just as gamers' demands have changed, so have our games. Now we are developing games for mobile platforms. The most epic of them is I,Gladiator!!!

I, Gladiator has everything a good arena combat game needs, from different fighting styles to plenty of weapons and armor choices, character upgrades, awesome visuals, and enough blood to make the producers of Spartacus choke with envy. Okay, that last one is an exaggeration. There isn't that much blood. But when you plunge into the compelling gameplay you will find out that this is one of the best swipe combat games on iOS, Android, Windows Phone right now, and it even comes with an epic story to frame the action. Imagine yourself being Rufus, a big-hearted gladiator who refuses to finish off his opponent. However, the Gods have different plans for Rufus.

They barter on his soul, and Rufus is claimed by Hermes as his champion in the games. The simple 2D cut-scenes aren't very action-packed, but they are pretty lengthy and provide a punch of exposition, with some solid voice work. Rufus can attack from different angles, string together combos and kick your opponent in the gut, knocking him down if unblocked and giving you a breather.

I, Gladiator doesn’t have the largest variety of challengers to face (though there are lions later on), but it makes up for it by throwing them at you in bunches. Sometimes enemies will team up on you; other times they pair off in their own battles, and even kill each other off on occasion. Switching between targets is simple enough if you find the numbers are against you, but moving around the arena or trying to position the bad guys by the environmental traps can be cumbersome.

During the mobile games boom, we also switched our attention to mobile games, developing outsource games for PC and tablets. However, during the existence of Steel Monkeys there hasn't been any games on Linux. Recently the company ported I,Gladiator on PC and we are now distributing it through Stream where we are known as developers of Post-Apocalyptic Mayhem. I, Gladiator with the help of the community passed GreenLight in 17 days.
