Alisa Apps on Pacquiao’s New Walk-Out Tune: “At Least he Dumped his Old Song”

LAS VEGAS - May 6, 2015 - PRLog -- When Manny Pacquiao entered the Las Vegas MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday to mix it up with Floyd Mayweather, Jr., he had singer/boxer Alisa Apps to thank for ”Lalaban Ako Para Sa Filipino”, his walking-out song and ballad to the Philippines.

While at Wild Card Boxing in Los Angeles, where Apps formerly trained, she sang “Turn it Up Loud”, the anthem from her forthcoming album. This caught the attention of Pacquiao’s brother Bobby and his trainer BuBoy Fernandez. They invited her to dinner to sing it to Pacquiao.

According to Apps, Pacquiao was impressed (https://youtu.be/e8-ZE28Y2PE) and asked her for the CD of the song. She spoke to him again after second fight with Timothy Bradley, and they discussed another song of Apps’, “Rising”, as a walk-out song for Pacquiao and the Philippines. According to Apps, Pacquiao said he would see her at Wild Card. But when they met at Wild Card, she alleges that he used her idea, recording his own walk-out song for himself and the Philippines.

“I’m so great even Manny Pacquiao took my idea,” she said. “People try to copy me, but this just shows I’m the best — the best singer, writer, fighter and now the best innovator too. People think they can do what I do because I make it look so easy. They all want to be me, act like me and sing like me. And nobody else can do what I do.”

Apps plans to give the press a listen to her forthcoming debut, which she’s worked on for 38 weeks. “It’ll take off like a g*ddamn rocket,” she said. “People don’t steal or copy sh*t; they get from the best. Manny using my idea and singing himself out is just another notch in my belt! He owes me.”
