Shermco Industries to host Lunch and Learn in Houston

HOUSTON - May 5, 2015 - PRLog -- HOUSTON -  Shermco Industries announced today that it will host a Lunch and Learn in Houston on the topic of partial discharge testing of medium voltage cables, which can play a critical role in determining the health of an electrical distribution system.

The free event is open to electrical systems professionals from local industries across the Gulf coast region, corporate campuses, power facilities, and municipalities. It will be held at the Monument Inn in LaPorte, Texas on Thursday, May 14^th at 11:00 a.m. and participants will be treated to lunch, refreshments and ample networking opportunities.

As cable faults can be very costly and tricky to locate, partial discharge testing can help assure companies that no new faults are on the horizon while providing the critical information needed to target maintenance resources to problem areas. The event will provide a comprehensive overview of partial discharge testing technologies for medium voltage cables. Participants will also go away with an understanding of how test results can be utilized to improve a plant's predictive maintenance program, ensuring fewer unexpected failures.

The seminar will be led by Tom Sandri, senior technical instructor at Shermco Industries. Sandri received his BSEE from Thomas Edison University in Trenton, N.J. He has been active in electrical power and telecommunications for over 30 years. During his career he has developed numerous training aids, training guides, and has conducted seminars-both domestic and internationally. Sandri supports a wide range of electrical and telecommunication maintenance application disciplines. He has been directly involved with the design and application support of test and measurement equipment and diagnostic techniques for more than twenty five years. He is considered an industry expert in cable diagnostics and partial discharge analysis.
