Call for Presentations - Wastewater Remediation Using Algae

HOUSTON - May 4, 2015 - PRLog -- "Wastewater Remediation Using Algae and Growing Algae Commercially Using Wastewater"

Algae Is used to clean wastewater.  Some wastewaters can be used to grow algae commercially. Wastewater operators and municipalities, algae companies, commercially-minded algae researchers and equipment companies will explore new wastewater opportunities in cleaning and the reuse of wastewater at National Algae Association's next Algae Production Workshop - September 2015, The Woodlands, Texas. Treatment and reuse of effluent from municipal, industrial and agricultural sources turning them into co-products can be a win-win between wastewater treatment plants and algae production companies. Algae can clean wastewater of phosphorous, nitrogen and other pollutants.  Reuse nutrients found in wastewater can be used to grow algae strains that are suitable for high-yield co-products and potential fuels. Commercial algae production equipment can be co-located at or near any wastewater facilities for on-site production.

The National Algae Association is interested in providing a platform for commercially-minded algae wastewater researchers, algae companies and private industry who have direct experience in using algae to clean wastewater or in using wastewater cleaned by algae and used to produce algae biomass co-products. Algae companies and equipment companies interested in wastewater remediation using algae will be on hand for collaboration efforts.

NAA is working with wastewater operators and municipalities to establish data from scalable commercial pilot projects.  If you or your university is interested in being involved in commercial algae wastewater projects and your algae technology has been proven to be scalable outside of the lab, we encourage you to submit a presentation and CV by June 30, and to join us at our next workshop  to participate in discussions about wastewater remediation and secondary water reuse for co-product opportunities.
