PORTLAND, Maine - May 4, 2015 - PRLog -- The Maine Technology Users Group (MTUG) will hold its 28th Annual Information Technology Summit and Tradeshow on Thursday, May 28th 2015, 7:30am to 4pm, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay, 88 Spring Street, Portland. An expected five hundred IT professionals will gather to share technology experiences and the latest in techniques, services and products.

This year's Keynote Speaker is Rear Admiral (Ret.) William E. Leigher, now the Advanced Solutions Director, Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS), at Raytheon Company. In his address, "Insecurity in a Connected Planet," Admiral Leigher will explore the ubiquity of computer processors in our everyday activities, the risks inherent to non-IT cyber systems, and present ways to address the risk to life and property.

The event features 15 workshops and demonstrations across 5 tracks: Great IT Debates, IT Infrastructure, IT Workforce Development, Security, and “Tech Sandbox” (hands-on technology demonstrations) on topics such as Windows 10, hyperconvergence, employee security training, IT certification options, insourcing vs. outsourcing, quadcopters and more. Nearly all workshops will be led or co-led by IT professionals at Maine-based organizations from a broad array of sectors, including: engineering, health care, finance, nonprofit, professional services, manufacturing, education, and retail.

The exhibit hall of almost 60 vendor booths will be open all day, with IT and telecom infrastructure and services vendors from Maine and across the nation.

The expected 500 attendees will include IT and telecom professionals and senior business and operations managers from Maine and New Hampshire, representing all sectors and industries, including government, finance, education, manufacturing, construction, healthcare, nonprofit organizations and more. With three food events around sessions, there will be plenty of time to network, share ideas, and ask questions of presenters and vendors.

The Fourth Annual Maine Technology Users Group Scholarships, awarded jointly with business partners FairPoint Communications, Lincolnville Communications, Norway Savings Bank, and GWI, will be announced at the Summit lunch. The scholarships will be managed by the University of Maine Foundation, and will benefit Maine graduates studying in IT fields at a University of Maine System campus.
