CG Global Renews Bredbury Security Contract With Radius

WIGAN, U.K. - May 1, 2015 - PRLog -- CG Power Solutions Ltd (CG Global) has renewed its Bredbury substation manned guarding contract with Radius Security for a second year as the old electricity substation is replaced and decommissioned.

Radius has supplied manned guarding to CG Global’s site at the substation for just over a year.

Trained security guards monitor the site gates and perimeter 24 hours a day, seven days a week, supported by a state-of-the-art electronic checking-in system, Active Tracker, which helps them complete their rounds at timely intervals.

Active Tracker also provides an extra precaution for the men themselves – if the automated system is interrupted due to them not checking in at designated locations and times, for example if there has been an accident or incident, a management team is alerted to immediately follow it up.

Operations Manager Phil Mannian said: “There is a lot of building work going on at Bredbury substation and there will be for some months yet – the project is due to be completed next year.

"So it’s a potentially hazardous site. Diligent manned guarding protects equipment on site, and also protects members of the public from harm.

“We’ve invested in the Active Tracker system for use on most – if not all – manned guarding contracts. It promotes efficiency and accuracy, and gives our clients peace of mind that their location security is being properly managed.”

CG Global is one of three companies occupying the Bredbury site, where Electricity North West Ltd is constructing a gas insulated switchgear substation to replace the existing air insulated switchgear version.

Once the new substation is built, the old one, which is more than 40 years old and at the end of its working life, will be decommissioned and demolished to ground level. The project is set to be completed by October 2016.
