By: la wolves fc The first half for the Wolves started off with some good possession and the control paid off as the Wolves made a nice set of combination passes which ended up on the foot of Wolves Midfielder Damir Baimagambetov who took the ball to the goal line on the right side and sent a hard cross into the middle to an on rushing Tarzan Hernandez who buried the ball into the back of the net giving the Wolves the 1-0 lead. The game went in a tough direction for the Wolves shortly thereafter as Wolves Defender Adam Diab was called for a hard tackle and shown the red card but the Wolves would not let that get in the way of pushing forward. Playing a man down, the Wolves scored their second goal of the night as forward Sam Higgins who has been out the past two months, scored from on top of the box with a hard shot into the right side of the net beating the keeper making it 2-0. The Wolves were almost into halftime when with about a minute left of play, Inland Empire would score a goal off a giveaway in the back making it 2-1 which is where the teams would go into at halftime. After a halftime discussion, the Wolves started the second half and reacted with a quick goal by Higgins giving the Wolves the much needed goal for some breathing room and from there, the game opened up. The Wolves would end up scoring three more goals between Higgins and Fernandez with a final score 6-2. Yan Skwara, L.A Wolves FC Head Coach. “The boys fought hard and we played a decent game under the conditions. The field was very small and the red card had to be managed so all in all getting the win was good progress especially it being it was a cup match. We look forward to the second leg as we know Inland Empire will still be fighting to win so we have to be prepared and at the same time we want to get into the next round as the Admiral Cup is important for our club. The L.A. Wolves now return home for the second leg of Round two of the Admiral Cup against Inland Empire FC this coming Sunday at Toyota Sports Complex hoping to advance to the third Round. L.A.
