By: Fowler International Academy of Coaching According to a recent study, there are 47,500 life coaches worldwide and 15,800 in North America. On average, they charge $214 per session, and make $47,900 per year. The industry brings in an annual revenue of $2 billion. Life coaches help their clients identify and pursue goals through a steady rotation of encouragement, brutal honesty and perspective. Coaches generally fall into two categories — personal and professional — but a growing number of niche coaches advise on anything from weight loss to empty-nest syndrome. Life coaching is a largely unregulated industry, which draws criticism from skeptics. But, growing numbers of universities, including Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, New York University and Georgetown, are introducing training programs. Berry Fowler, the man behind the world renowned Sylvan Learning Centers, has come out of retirement to help baby boomers begin a career as a Life Coach. Since selling Sylvan, the 68 year old Fowler has moved on to found Fowler International Academy (FIA) of Personal Coaching, where he trains people to become Certified Life Coaches in just 2 days. And, just like the early days of Sylvan, he is being met with skepticism and naysayers, specifically by other life coach training organizations that say it's impossible to become a life coach with a 20-hour course. Not so, says Fowler. Over the past 7 years, Fowler and his team have trained and certified over 5,000 individuals world-wide to become successful life coaches. With affordable tuition far below the norm, and a proven coaching system, Fowler's FIA has become a global leader in professional coach training and certification. Fowler believes that coaching is not difficult. He says it doesn’t take years of experience or an advanced degree to become a successful life coach. People from all walks of life and literally all ages can become successful coaches. “The most important factor in becoming a great coach is a genuine desire to help others. If they have that, we can teach them the rest.” “Coaching was very much a part of my success at Sylvan,” he continues. "There, I would coach my students to believe in themselves, stay focused and motivated, and build skills to reach their full potential. Now, I am teaching people how to coach others.” For more information, log onto http://www.fiacoaching.com/ End
