Local music school raises over $5000 for pet rescue organization

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - April 27, 2015 - PRLog -- This April, the Rochester Academy of Music & Arts partnered with Nuts for Mutts Rescue Inc.—a certified nonprofit organization committed to rehabilitating homeless & abused dogs. The Academy organized and hosted a fundraising gala for the pet rescue, raising a total of $5,000.50. Money was raised through dinner sales, as well as a raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses such as Wegmans, Cheesy Eddie’s, Hedonist, Sky Zone, Goodness Cakes, & more. $2897.50 was raised from raffle & food sales, with Academy owner Brannon Hungness matching the money made from the raffle, resulting in a personal donation of $2,103.

Working together for a cause

A big part of the Academy’s mission is being an active participant in the Rochester community, through hosting food drives, fundraisers, performing at charity events, & more. According to Hungness, “I am very grateful for the success we have had at the Academy, and welcome any chance to give back to the community that has been so good to us.”

This is the second annual fundraiser the Academy has organized for Nuts for Mutts. “We more than doubled the amount raised from last year. It was so gratifying to see students, parents, friends, & businesses coming together for such a good cause,” states Hungness. “Many dogs will have the opportunity to enjoy safe and healthy lives, and many humans will be able to share their lives with an amazing canine best friend, because of the good work Nuts for Mutts is doing.”
