Pulse Theatre Company Chicago Announces 2015-2016 Season

Fabulation, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf and Chicago premier of Marie Christine scheduled to open in the Windy City
 
CHICAGO - April 27, 2015 - PRLog -- Pulse Theatre Company Chicago returns with three new shows for the 2015-2016, demonstrating its mission to diversify the Chicago theatre scene with emerging talent. For the second year in show business, co-founding artistic directors Aaron Mitchell Reese and Christopher Jackson will produce revivals of Lynn Nottage’s Fabulation, Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf and Michael John LaChiusa’s Marie Christine. The shows will each run for four-weeks in July 2015, November 2015 and spring 2016.

“We are excited to introduce new productions this year, and work with emerging talent that share our vision, to make an impact through the stories we tell,” says Aaron Mitchell Reese, co-founder and artistic director. “All the support we received last year showed us that we are on to something big.”

“It’s an awesome year to grow and expand the company and I’m really excited about what’s to come,” says Christopher Jackson, co-founder and artistic director. “This season is more than just about celebrating our second year; it is about bringing untold and unseen perspectives to life.”

Fabulation


Undine is a successful African-American publicist living in Manhattan. When her husband takes her money, she is forced to return to her former life in Brooklyn and deal with her working-class relatives. Fabulation is a satirical rags-to-riches-to-rags story of transformation.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf?


After a night of drinking, the young couple Nick and Honey are invited over for a night-cap by the older Martha and her husband George. Things quickly go awry when Martha reveals that their son’s sixteenth birthday is the next day. Slowly but surly a brutal battle of wits and language commence between the four in this classic Albee piece.

Marie Christine


This musical retelling of the tragic Medea myth is brought to life in this Chicago premiere. With a powerful score by the incomparable Michael John LaChiusa, Marie Christine chronicles a doomed heroine’s journey from her genteel life of privilege in New Orleans Creole society through betrayal and incomprehensible vengeance in boisterous Chicago.
